The context

As an initial input for the dialogue-sessions in all the LCs of AIESEC in Austria we created a video outlining some key facts and questions about our organisation.
The output of the dialogues will be taken forward into the national planning.

MC Ran Away...

Dear members of AIESEC in Austria,

on 23rd of March during Morning Plenary of Euro XPro 2008 in St. Petersburg/Russia, an alarming message reached the Austrian Delegation. Hostile pirates seem to have taken over the MC office and threaten us, that they would harm a cute innocent bunny, a future change agent and our beloved office plant, if we don’t bring them money, partners, EPs and talents (apparently the pirate’s leadership pipeline sucks)

It was in an enormous rush, that we wanted to flee the venue for saving the destiny of our country but first we called in an emergency meeting with the Austrian Delegation and consolidated with GSGN how to best react on such an infamous attack against our status as independent, Caribbean-phobic students organization.

I am writing you now from Zurich airport to announce the results of our urgent-headless-action plan:

Viktor our passionate VP ERe run off to the airport immediately to get the first plane to Vienna but unfortunately his thoughts were all with the innocent bunny so he didn’t look carefully at the departure gate and ended up sitting somewhere in Spain, flirting with an illegal immigrant parrot and refuses to come back.

Cathrin got so attached to the UK delegation, that she decided to head for an ice cream and cake future.

Amit never managed to get out of Russia as he broke down under the weight of the paperwork that was necessary for him to leave the country. When the Russian authorities found him lying on the floor under a huge pile of paper, they decided to put him into the permanent “Asian art” exhibition in Hermitage.

Karoline decided to quit MC in Austria and try out the strange offer that MCe of Switzerland made her of actually paying her for her work.

Zsófi found out, that she would finally get financial support from the Hungarian Government, if she would marry a Hungarian and get a kid with this guy. So she changed her return ticked with a German Business man who was badly missing the triple layer toilet paper in Austria.

Julia was so tired of the randomness of the Austrian delegations attempts to safe the country that she decided not to come back from her trip to Sweden.

Currently we are trying to find out, if Vlad is still committed to the savior of the country, but due to the protective duty on all kind of communication from and to Russia and especially on internet, we have not succeeded so far.

Wishing you all the best for the future,

Your MC VPs 2007/09

Hostile Take-Over!

Shiver in panic, Member Committee Vice Presidents of AIESEC Austria!
While you spend happy and decadent days on EuroXPRO in St. Petersburg, your scornfully left-behind president has gathered his forces and took over your pesky little office to bring true positive impact on society! Now a golden age will beginn and milk and honey and 1000 exchanges will flow!

PS: Please note the integrative factor of this video: On it you can
see Newies, Oldies, EB-members, Alumni, foreign AIESECers visiting
Austria, Interns, MC-members and Alumni and people from Africa, Western
Europe, Eastern Europe and Asia

LC-visit in Innsbruck - March

Amit and me went to Innsbruck last week in order to support the LC in its recruitment-efforts and for general capacity building (e.g. I also held a training about building an LC culture with Newies).

I'm generally very happy with the job these guys are doing and I believe that - despite the challenges the LC is facing - AIESEC Innsbruck has a good chance of getting back their membership status by NK2 (which will - what a lucky coincidence - also happen in Innsbruck) if they continue working with the same level of committment and motivation.

I'm also looking forward to their prospective cool Newies, some of which I already was able to get to know at the info-evenings (at least I hope those guys applied for AIESEC afterwards ;) - even though right now I can refer in my mind mostly to "the smart guy with the glasses and the cap" and "the blond girl from the second row", but this will hopefully change soon.

"Denn bei uns im wilden Westen, sind die AIESECer die besten!"

Snowflakes are one of nature's most fragile things, but just look at what they can do when they stick together.” – anonymous

Give a thought to the above quote. What does it tell you?

When I first read it, this is what came to my mind.

  • Just as snowflakes, we are fragile too as individuals
  • Just as snowflakes, we are each unique and with great strengths and weaknesses
  • Just as snowflakes, we need to come together to make a difference
  • Just as snowflakes, a team is stronger than the sum of its individuals.
  • True teams can surpass great challenges and achieve unimaginable successes

Almost two months ago, on 11th of January in Ulmerfeld, we came together to elect the next MC team of AIESEC in Austria. At that point we elected the MCP – Vlad Isac and the VP X & Projects – Zsofia Varga.

The selection process continued and five unique individuals applied for the positions of MC VP TM and MC VP ER. Thank you Adka, Antonio, Cathrin, Peter and Viktor for your effort and for a great deal of passionate work you’ve put in so far.

Today, we have two more people joining the team for 2008-2009. They are…

…drums…

…drums…

…for MC VP TM: Cathrin Lesslhumer (current LC VP TM AIESEC Vienna)

and

…for MC VP ER: Viktor Dinevsky (current LCP AIESEC Skopje)

Congratulations Cathrin and Viktor and welcome on board!
Please send them your congratulations at viktor.dinevski@aiesec.net and clesslhumer@yahoo.de

Now the team is almost complete and in the next months we will prepare for what it will be a fantastic 2008-2009, a fantastic year for meaningful growth!

Best regards,

Vlad

Minutes before the PAI election

This is how the global plenary (in an admittedly quite small room) looks like just moments before the PAI-election.
